It’s 4:59am on a cold Monday morning. While most of us are still tucked up in bed, Adam Campton is already wide awake, sending out updates to Campton Racing’s loyal owners. For Adam and the team, communication isn’t just a courtesy—it’s the heartbeat of the stable, keeping everyone connected to the progress of their horses.
But what follows in a typical week for Adam would leave most people exhausted. The rhythm of daily trackwork never misses a beat, rain or shine. This past week, the calendar was packed: trials at two tracks, races at five different locations and the never-ending behind-the-scenes work that keeps a progressive racing stable running smoothly. That means meticulous planning for each horse’s campaign, careful analysis of race programs, booking jockeys, and managing the logistics of our stable.
The Road Less Travelled (By Most!)
This week, Adam clocked up a whopping 1,200 kilometres on the road. The itinerary? Trials at Beaudesert, early morning trackwork at the Gold Coast, and race meetings at Doomben, Ipswich, Gatton, and Toowoomba. All this, while contending with relentless rain—so much so that the best track we encountered was a heavy 8! But the Campton Racing team thrives on challenge, and enjoyed the results.
Three Winners and a Lucky Number
Despite the soggy conditions and long hours, the stable delivered three winners for our owners. And for the superstitious among us, there’s a quirky stat that’s hard to ignore: barrier 6 is fast becoming Campton Racing’s lucky number. Over April and May, our winners’ average barrier has been—you guessed it—barrier 6. Recent winners including Dashing Basics and Marathia both saluted from barrier 6.
Looking Ahead
There’s no time to rest on our laurels. Next week, the Campton Racing team will be on the move again, with runners set to compete at Doomben, Beaudesert, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Casino, Eagle Farm, and the Sunshine Coast. Each venue brings its own challenges and opportunities, and the team is already hard at work, planning every detail to give our horses the best chance to succeed.
As the sun rises on another week, Adam and the Campton Racing crew are ready to hit the road again—striving for that next winner for our owners (probably from barrier 6!). Get in touch to find out about ownership opportunities and experience the thrill of racing with an outstanding team. Let’s Talk
